Preface
As this collection unfolds each week, I want you, dear reader or listener, to understand that no matter what you’re going through, what you’ve been through, there is an end—there is light at the end of the tunnel. Letting go of the past is only possible if you live in the present. Make the past history, learn what you can about yourself, at whatever pace is comfortable, and I promise your present will take you to a brighter future.
Chicklet Lover
Chicklet keystrokes fall Narrow chasm to the mall Danger of all the travel far Horse drawn carriages Hidden behind her brothers’ stall Born from the unhappy married Shadows cross the sky Rain pours and footsteps strike Hidden reasons soon arise Force drawn beauty six feet tall First from and then back to car Cherish the chicklet lover Play him another cover Leave behind this ritual Searched for the virtual Nothing, nothing hides inside Broken, broken dead inside Horror from within her past Deep in embrace he stifles a cry Slows his breathing, slows his kiss Forbidden gestures once again Failed to stay the pain Steady his tears he rinsed Leave behind the carriage Forget all about the marriage The chicklet lover begs a kiss But is forbidden the touch on lips Struggled to find the switch Can’t bring his self to pitch Only alone in thought, in deed He will not bring himself to breathe Shows her what his chicklets feed Rows and lines and black and white No sure way to stem the tide Easy to bring her to his mind Hard to read to judge his kind
