Do Not Hesitate, Do Not Grasp
Reach up and grab the shackles that keep your head from showing how confident you are. Do not leave to the moment’s thought that you will get your second chance. Reach for the stars and as your neck cracks when you sit you’ll know your head is where it belongs. Know inside that grasping in the dark is flailing to the perpetrator, but knowing yourself will grant more understanding to the environment you are in. Failure to comply can result in death, the Maker sees and Fate moves to take away that chance of freedom unearned. No entitlement in this struggle, no hesitation, no feeble movements will grant more than what you have.
Stand tall! Do not hesitate and grasp for the railing.
Stand fast! Do not give into the prison around you.
United and as one you can push back your tormentor
United and together your body, mind, and soul can persevere
Do not grasp on to any explanation before you
Demand the truth without hesitation
Grow in the knowledge and deny liars history
Reach for your future
Reach for the future
Stand tall, confident
Believe in the cause
Do not hesitate, do not grasp.

My Thoughts on Poem
This poem comes from a collection called Hesitate and Grasp. While the thought behind the collection is about holding back and being reserved, about keeping one’s emotions in check; this poem calls attention to the fact that living a reserved life is not exactly a life well life. The idea being a life is meant to be lived, that we as people are not living to our fullest, to our happiest, if all we do is second guess, hesitate, grasp for help – we must take risks and seize opportunities and live life how we choose.
If someone is happy to be reserved, we should not force them to be open and outgoing but rather let them live their best life. Some people are simply happier with less human interaction, we are not all extroverted – the Lord knows I’m not. However, for most people, especially in this modern tech age where we are all addicted to various feeds and devices and do not interact with others physically, even when we are extroverted, we are doomed to not live life fully. To be happy is to not have regret, it is to know that you did everything you can each day and learn from your mistakes for tomorrow. Life is about the journey, about challenge, about seeking purpose; it is not about wallowing in our past and worrying about the future or the present.
Take Away
Do not hesitate to take a leap of faith. Do not grasp at the attention of others, begging them for pity on you. Do not flail about helplessly. Do not overthink decisions in your life. Do not hesitate, do not grasp.
I hear another poem is coming every Saturday!
