Introduction
As mentioned in Poem Drop 88 Pandora’s Box, I have a few—more like a hundred but who’s counting—thoughts that came from a poetic place but never had the chance to grow. Life and thoughts don’t always align and that means we often lack the ample time necessary to explore a thought, to find it’s conclusion. Between my phone and other technologies, I can write these thoughts down, add them to the Simple Thoughts list, and some day revisit them.
I’ve got three weeks of this format while life events unfold and the next collection is being recorded and edited. I am still exploring changes in how these poem drops will look based on the content, so please, let me know what works and what doesn’t in the comments!
Anyway, here’s the first set of Simple Thoughts, you’ll see a little bit of everything in these. Some thoughts are more robust than others, and some simply fall flat, but one must start somewhere. These early Simple Thoughts stemmed from my desire to work on my poetry after a long break from it while I worked on prose. Let’s dig in!
Simple Thoughts 1
When the first dust cloud settles on the horizon,
The last screaming of the storm will cease.
When the last rain cloud fails to drop more water,
The first green things begin to flower.
Simple Thoughts 2
Staged a stooge of standing still sneaks silently safely behind the sunken sill of the shelter’s shade.
Simple Thoughts 3
No question is too great for the endless beginning that has come to an end.
Simple Thoughts 4
I have gone as far as I can without going too far and further than I should; yet never far enough for what I truly desire.
Simple Thoughts 5
All media thrives on sensationalism, controversy, and lies; the only question is who is bringing evidence and telling the truth this time.
